Annual Financial Statements
Our mandate is derived from the voters, through the approval of Proposition 10 in 1998: to guide the allocation of tobacco tax revenues to three primary strategic results: improved family functioning; improved child development, learning and school readiness; and improved child health. First 5 Marin is committed to this mandate, and works to deliver results that will not only improve the lives of young children in Marin County, but also promote community partnerships and change the system of services by making it more efficient, effective and sustainable.
As we look to the future, we are mindful of reductions in tobacco sales and tobacco tax revenues – the primary source of funding for First 5 activities. Combined with plans to spend down our assets, it is clear that funding for our current programs and initiatives will decline over time.
As our financial outlook changes, we remain focused on the priorities in our Strategic Plan and intent on maximizing our investments in young children and their families in Marin County.
