BUDGET ALERT-- The Impact of AB 99 on First 5 Marin:

The Legislature passed, and the Governor signed, AB 99 which requires First 5 Children and Families commissions to transfer $1 billion to the State Treasury.

As part of that transfer, First 5 Marin's portion will be about $3 million.

That transfer will seriously impact our reserves which had been designated for specific future programs and initiatives.

In anticipation of dramaticaly reduced finances, funded partners will have budgets reduced 20-25% in FY 2011-12.

First 5 Marin has also taken steps to reduce commission expenses and administration costs, and will make additional reductions in FY 2011-12.
