Itoco is a Marin native who serves as the current chair of our commission. He previously served as the superintendent of the Sausalito-Marin City School District and spent 12 years as a teacher and instructional coach and six years as a middle school and elementary school administrator; he has also served as an educational consultant.  Itoco is dedicated to educational equity and to “transformative outcomes” for students, families and communities; he brings that same approach to First 5 Marin’s work for young children.  Itoco attended Marin County public schools including Tampalpais High School in Mill Valley; he earned his B.A. and a doctorate in education from UC Berkeley and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Fresno State University.
