North Bay Children’s Center (NBCC)
is a pioneer in early childhood education and the co-founder and Executive Director of the North Bay Children’s Center (NBCC), a Marin County nonprofit she has led for 36 years. Under her leadership, NBCC has served over 10,000 children and partnered with six school districts across Marin and Sonoma counties, providing affordable, high-quality childcare and early learning for the community’s most vulnerable families.
A recognized innovator, Susan developed the “Garden of Eatin’ Living Curriculum,” integrating nutrition and environmental education into daily programming, and has presented to the Early Care Climate Task Force on strategies to support young children through climate-related challenges. She has also led NBCC through crises including the 2017 Sonoma County wildfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring critical childcare for first responders and essential workers when communities needed it most.
Susan is a proud third-generation San Franciscan and the mother of two adult children.
